Tourettes is it a rcognised disability
Discussion
My wives school broke up today and the staff got together for a drink at a Weatherspoons. One of the staff members suffers from Tourettes and whilst not screaming motherf
ker at the top of her voice. She does suffer short episodes at conversation noise levels. The other staff do help her in that someone will go to the loo or bar with her just to explain things should she swear. She was asked to leave by the manager and despite explaining the situation still had to go. Noise levels in the pub were pretty high. Are they allowed to kick someone out because of a medical condition. As I said she's not loud or aggressive and doesn't have any problems working at a school?

TS is considered a disability under UK law, which prohibits people with the condition being discriminated against because of it."

Thrown out of a pub for swearing at conversation level? The cretin who expelled her will be apoplectic when they discover that people are consuming alcohol on the premises too!
I'd be willing to bet this is not a real story, but a what if pretending to be a true storyOp I think a quiet word with the manager or brewery if not well received ought to suffice, no need to make a huge deal out of it.

As a previous poster has suggested, swearing at a conversational level in a crowded pub in Bridgwater. Is to be frank unlikely to put off the string quartet playing in the corner

A simple solution then,TS is considered a disability under UK law, which prohibits people with the condition being discriminated against because of it."

They just need to 'Prove' that they have TS (registered disability = name on a register) - which will mean they can stay in a pub or even a library.
On the other side of the coin, those that do not have it and are just loud and rowdy, can be asked to leave on genuine merit.

she's a lovely girl and was pretty upset by it all. I think her pupils, view having a teaching assistant with Tourettes as a very special gift from god lol
