Is it worth it?

Hello BiBs --what are your thoughts on this.
Bloody Reg Cert has gone pear shaped(long story)
but I have applied for a new one--4/6 weeks before I get it back.

But I can't tax the car with no Doc's.

So If I'm pulled and pay the back dated L' fee am I in the clear or not.
Reading the DVLA stuff seems that they dont have a prob if all is paid up.
What about you BiBs though.

Cant you fill the form it at DVLA which allows you to buy tax without a log book..? (presume REG CERT is a log book?)

If you are the current registered keeper of the vehicle you may be able to license it at any DVLA Local Office. You should complete form V62 (fee application) as well as form V10 or V85. If you have changed your name and/or address you will need to provide proof of identity with your application. Acceptable evidence is a current driving licence, original bank/building society statement, or a recent utility bill. If your name has changed acceptable evidence is a marriage certificate, decree nisi/absolute or deed poll.

but I'm not down as the reg' keeper--sent the log book off months ago myself as I knew the guy who had the car before me.
I returned home afew days ago after a trip abroad for 7 weeks and no bloody doc's waiting to greet me on the hall floor.The Tax ran out end of December.

Phoned the DVLA yesterday to query it-- no sir you cant get the tax without the log book and you cant drive the car---- Great

I tried taxing a car without the log book a few months ago - I was told I either needed the 'reminder' that I never received, or the logbook. I had to wait for a new logbook to come through.

I forgot to bring a logbook once, just had to fill out a form applying for new logbook at the same time. I think they charge you for this now though, because they are a bunch of rapists.
