New Offence being Considered!

Just heard that the government are thinkiing of introducing a new offence:

Causing By Dangerous Driving Whilst Disqualified.

Apparently, "Causing Death By dangerous Driving" always causes a quandry because person did not intend to kill and there is a accidnetal element. Sentence has been increased to 14 years, but courts usually ipose much less.

However, because more deaths (allegedly per the snip of news at this ungodly hour (baby playing up!) are caused by disqualified drivers, government is thinking about introducing this new offence to "fill a gap". According to the news item - it will carry a much stiffer sentence .... if the person is actually caught ....

Well, it's been 20 minutes since we had a Criminal Justice Bill, so probably Streetcop & Dibble need another 300 page pile of cr*p to read.

What's the point ? If you can already get 14 years, that's a fairly spectacular sentence surely ?

I think they should have a 'top up' or a bit extra if driving whilst already disqualified and a death is proven to be as a result of their driving.

In the majority of cases the punishment is there i.e. Death by Dangeous - 14 years.

1. Anybody tell me when 14 years was doled out?
2. Even if it was they only complete about half.

Send the barstewards down for the maximum and make them serve it all.

Yes, more spinning from a 'leader' who is preaching safety while dismantling the fire service, running down the police, creating hundreds of angry terrorists from nothing and having personally helped kill over 100 British soldiers, 1000 US soldiers and over 100,000 Iraqies.

And for his next safety lesson? Why invade Iran of course - that'll show 'em.

Oh and in the meantime between breaking international law, human rights and legislating for removal of our right to trial he's also trying to tell us that speed isn't miles per hour but some mysterious destructive force.

Really besides defending oneself by using jammers and detectors, making cameras safe and avoiding known tax toll vans the best alternative is to stand for councillor or MP next time the elections come around... then YOU get to decide policy.
