Is it worth doing anything?
Discussion
PH peoples.
I was after some advice about (what sounds like) racing on a DC near me.
You hear the odd car, but it's mainly a motorbike, racing up and down for a good few hours each night from about 10pm until about 12:30.
You can hear the bike wide open going through at least 4 gears, and it sounds like a superbike engine, it's certainly no 125. (circa high revving 600/800?)
Is it worth reporting to plod, or just leave it be as it's loud enough to want to close the windows and on the warmish nights, as it's that loud.

I have some sympathy with the OP as we hear similar things. The Barry boy antics on the riverside car parks have been largely neutered by section 59 orders but most evenings we hear folks trying their luck round a nearby bend with a decent straight each side. So far there's only been one incident more than the odd spin with a hit the kerb, launch into the bridge parapet and fortunately for them gouge marks out of the road surface as they bounced over the bridge rather than into the river. But agree it's disturbing listening to the noises waiting for the bang.
But on the other hand I think back to what I must have inflicted on the population of e.g. Lincolnshire and Wales and wherever in my road rally days. So I regard this as karma coming back to get me and thus leave and let live.
There comes a point where the piss taking gets to a point where it's dangerous. For example not too far away a lad was into bikes. Every time he bought a new bike him and his mates would bomb up and down the lanes, including some housing estate roads, untaxed and uninsured usually, early days without the necessary licence and under age, speeds completely inappropriate for the situation. That had to be dealt with.

I'd be reporting it straight away! Are you saying he tears up and down the same bit of road for up to 2.5 hours each night, within earshot of you???You can hear the bike wide open going through at least 4 gears, and it sounds like a superbike engine, it's certainly no 125. If nothing else that's anti-social in extremis.
if it helps then nip out and video the idiot so that the Police have his reg number and don't have to do much work.
I live just off one of south Manchester's primary routes in and out of the city. You hear bikes and cars all the time coming off the lights at full whack racing between lights etc.
Because we live in close proximity, we also get police helicopters doing the rounds above our house monitoring the dual/three lane carriageway if anything major happens in the city - this is usually very noticeable at approx 11-12pm.
We also live next to the biggest police station in south manchester, this means constant police sirens at all hours of the night.
If your concerned, a call to 101 to log it when it is happening, you might get some police presence.
Personally, you chose to live near a dual carriageway :-)

The yoofs are making the most of the last of the dry weather OP - it'll be over soon.
It's the same near where I live, albeit a stretch of road 5 miles from me. They blat up and down said stretch of road, HIDs causing serious and permanent damage to anyone who is unfortunate to be caught in their gaze, before crawling through the local town, looking pretty super whilst they do it.
As soon as the nights get colder and wetter, they bugger off back to the Xbox; only to remerge again in early May.

There was a huge number of complaints regarding races on the A10 late at night. After numerous complaints the Police took action and I believe the racing has since stopped.

Whether you decide to report it is up to you, I guess it depends how bad it really is.
