Guys,

Can anyone recommend a decent ‘Parking Management’ company??

I live in a town centre location and the landlords have employed the services of one of those ‘Parking Management’ companies... They’ve done an OK job at sorting out some of our issues but frankly, they are utterly st when it comes to their ‘Customer Service’. In my dealings with them, they are at best, rude and arrogant.

In general, I know these companies get a bad press & realise I might be looking for the best of a bad bunch but I’m wondering if there’s a ‘Parking Management’ company out there which actually does a decent job?

Thoughts??

You have to ask yourself if you would be comfortable making serious money from flawed and morally bereft legislation that permits private companies to flourish utilising the law.

Just like the speed enforcement industries in fact.

If you're ok with that then employ another company with "polite" staff. They'll still shaft you, only they will be nice about it.

To be fair... You're sort of coming across as biased before we've even started. wink However, that is why I'm asking the question as I'm sure there could be a happy medium somewhere. i.e. One where the enforcement is firm, fair and not about hiding behind multiple companies & exploiting every loophole to maximise revenue.

I'm in the position where I see both sides; I live in a town centre location and we have had big problems with people just parking up all day and disappearing off to the shops/offices, etc... Which means the residents are unable to park. And for reasons I'm not going to go into, installing gates/barriers are not an option. So, whilst I appreciate where you're coming from, they do serve a purpose as they have managed to sort out our problems.

However, the current company are s to deal with and the type of company which hides behind process, procedure and multiple companies to make the whole thing difficult. I want to call time on them and get a company that's fair but firm.

FWIW - We don't see any of the revenue generated. We just want to be able to park in our own carpark. wink

You need a gate not a 'parking management' company.

The buildings management company need to spend some of that money that you pay them every month on investing in the site instead of using the cheapest option that doesn't effect their profit...

Camel_landy - we were in the same position so we've leased our car park to SIP (Simple Intelligent Parking). Another option we looked at was Euro Car Parks.

If selfish twunts didn't insist on parking in spaces which have mahoosive signs saying "Private Parking - XYZ staff only" we wouldn't have had to resort to using PPCs. It's not as if there's a shortage of spaces in Manchester, the problem is that selfish twunts would rather not pay if they think they can get away with it. It's the same mentality that thinks it's OK to patk on DYLs in city centre traffic.

I agree BUT I think the first step is to secure your property via physical means.

The problem with assumptions is you don't always know you're making them... wink

I know I've asked a specific question, by all means suggestion options but that one is a non-starter.

It wasn't possible or practicable in our case. The car park was shared with other businesses. We also had numerous different people turning up for different reasons so, even if we put in a swipe card system, it wasn't really manageable.

Having said all that why should we HAVE to? There was a massive sign at the entrance to the car park and individual signs in our spaces. But still we need to waste more time and money to stop the selfish from being penalised from their own choice?

You are right CD, foliage all encompassing "idea' is unworkable and impractical in many scenarios and as for swipe cards, key pads, barriers etc, they get knocked off, superglued, vandalised etc just because some people cannot read or are just downright selfish, I can't see it getting better in overcrowded areas.

Leave your front door open with a big sign saying "Private home do not enter". Let me know how you get on.

If you are just trying to protect your spaces then how about a few of these?

That's why my home is locked and only people with a key can come in. However I don't have 50-100 people turning up at my home every day, who need to come in and go out as they please. It's a complete different situation. To be fair only a selfish cock WOULD come in if there was a sign saying "do not enter".

It wouldn't work. I'd need to give everybody the ability to lock or unlock the bollard. To get the keys they'd either have to have them permanently (so Im issuing about 300 keys) or they'd have to park up on DYLs, come in, get the keys from reception, go out park up and then remember to do all that in reverse when they leave.

How about (admittedly a radical suggestion) people stop behaving like selfish twunts instead?
