Imitation Speed Camera

On a road not far from us in Warwickshire, a new static speed camera has appeared. Looked a bit strange to Brian though, and his colleague agreed. So next morning, colleague stops by the camera to check it out and it's an imitation. Is this legal?

If it's not an actual GATSO, can't you just burn it?

Not if its on private property. In fact, not if its on public land either. Although I doubt anyone would prosecute you if you tarred it and covered it with feathers.

Haven't actually seen it myself, parrotofdoom, but it sounds like an imitation Gatso. Didn't realise they were so common! But is there any law covering this situation - presumably only the council/police can put up real cameras, but if these are fake they're not infringing that, are they?

Perhaps if its over 6 feet tall, it requires planning permission. You could then voice an objection to the council, who would require the owner to remove it?
