I have seen more than a dozen scooter riders riding around pulling their phone from their pocket and texting whilst riding.
Always makes me cringe.
I'm seeing it more and more often, usually low powered commuter type machines, hence the question.

There is a picture on a thread here of a horse rider, you often see cyclists using their phones hand held, now I'm seeing motorcyclists getting the habit too.

I don't actually care, I'm not a fan of the anti phone legislation, I just wondered if it covered motorcycles.

I can't believe the OP is for real. I wonder why he thinks a motorcycle is not a vehicle (i.e. as in motor vehicle)?

Rather than rely on a third party site, why not look at the fountain head - i.e. the relevant legislation?
http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2003/2695/regul...

No person shall drive a motor vehicle on a road if he is using—

Motor is not confined to the internal combustion engine either.
(e.g. steam traction engines and certain mobility scooters...)

Quite apart from the above , how would you hold a phone to your ear whilst wearing a helmet ?

Non issue I think .

I saw a peanut stand, heard a rubber band, seen a needle wink its eye.
I've seen a front porch swing, heard a diamond ring, I've seen a polka dot railroad tie
I saw a clothes horse rear up and buck
And they tell me that a man made a vegetable truck
I didn't see that, I only heard
Just to be sociable, well, I'll take your word

I heard a fireside chat, I saw a baseball bat And I just laughed till I thought I'd die
But I be done seen about everything
When I see an elephant fly

I work in Central London.

The couriers and the guys doing the knowledge will frequently take photos when they ride past a tourist / landmark while they're still moving. Many seem to try and take selfies with the landmarks in the background whilst still moving

The scooter scum don't bother doing their lid up and ride with it resting on top of their head whilst on the phone .

I regularly see Asian women with their mobiles jammed into the side of their Niquabs, shalwas or whatever you call the authentic tight fitting head gear they wear.

In fairness it appears to be hands free though.

Joking aside they're clearly not starting or ending calls without using the device in anycase.

Seen the same thing in Sicily too - it was 'hands free' as the helmet was holding the phone in place while he chatted - nutters

I think its the law for general vehicle use on the roads. On another note. How the fk do people manage that? Right hand you need to maintain speed, left hand you need to clutch to change gear/stop. Or is it just the wee CVT peds you've seen?

I'm in Catania at the moment working and I concur 100's of scooters whizzing around helmet strap undone mobile held to ear, countess cars with kids stood between seats no seat belts mothers holding babies, beautiful women on scooters no protective gear at all nutters, although in fairness they do look good and its stupid hot.
