DIY divorce

A friend has been married for 10 years and separated for 3 years. Finances sorted out and kids see their dad etc. Can she do a "DIY" divorce and do the paperwork herself and pay the court fee's? I was reading on the money advice website that you have to be separated for 5 years? Is this true?

You can apply for divorce after two years separation by agreement, or 5 years if the petition is likely to be contested.

Nothing about pensions. He has had a payoff from the house done via a solicitor.

Skimping on a few quid for insured professional advice when large amounts are at stake is a really, really, really dumb idea. Your "friend" (why so coy?) needs to get a consent order in place dealing with the financial split.
