Got caught on my bike entering a 40 after a national speed limit without slowing enough. To be fair to the police man in the unmarked car he had me on tape going well over that in the national speed limit but decided to let me off with the lowest possible punishment.

So what is my likely punishment?

Court summons I'm afraid, maximum dealt with by FPN is 66 in a 40 zone according to ACPO speed enforcement policy guidelines

2 months ago I was caught for 66 in a 40 on my r1 overtaking 2 cars frown
Another of these 60 roads they've not long decided to change to 40 to generate some income - no accidents in this area at all... Anyway that's another story.

No offer of an fpn and was advised that is was a report to the procurator fiscal of which I dealt with by pleading guilty via the supplied paperwork once it had gone through the system - the paperwork took about 5 weeks to land on my door. I was not going to fight and go to court - I was caught fair and square. Took another 3 weeks for my plea to be read and the court judgement given back to me.

The result was a sp30 penalty - 4 points and £140 fine. Reduced from a recommended 5 points and £200 due to my speedy response and eating humble pie

Hope that gives you some idea - I'm in Scotland btw

Anything up to a £1,000 fine (based on weekly income) and up to six points.

Or a possible ban.

Shame they don't apply the same latitude to Motorway offences, I could run around at the best part of 125mph.

I have to agree I just cruise the motorways at 80mph with the cruise control on as that is the speed I can overtake police cars all day long, without so much as a blink of a light. When doing 40,000 miles plus a year it helps......

Strangely though I also got off lightly at 135 in a 70 a few years back; 21 day ban and £350 fine.

I really must slow down !

I try not to but I am not the invisible man.

I will be very unlikely to get caught in a car but despite Waze and my very orthodox attitude to the national speed limit, it is still not a miracle.

When on the bike it is just a case of for fks sake not a another blue light?
