folks,

i was flashed for going through a red just) and have received the NIP after three months.
however after buying the vehicle i never got round to sending off the v5 - and i had both parts.
shortly thereafter i sold it - and handed over the original v5.
it transpires previous owner *still is* the registered keeper and he gave my details.

is there a way out of this for me?

thanks.

This isn't going to be a reply you're going to like.

You ran a red light!

i'd like to be thought more of a man for standing up to the government sponsered racketeering that this money making game amounts to.
but i'll settle for the middle way of merely undermining the system if i can!

Sorry dude - red is red is red. Been nearly knocked off the motorbike sooooo many times by people just jumping through on red so take it and pay it and count yourself lucky.

Come back when you get your next 77 in a 70 speeding ticket from a clear striahgt road probably from somewhere in wales... now THATS annoying

If you do find a way good luck

what if i said it was not me and the photo was rear only? i owned the vehicle but sold it and didn't need to know who the new owner was as v5 untouched - how long and to what lengths will the bibs pursue it?

Playing the PACE game with the scammers and fighting a speeding charge is, if actioned correctly, entirely within the law.

Fabricate a story , bend the truth, whatever you want to call it and you play a dangerous game. If the BiB get the bit between their teeth and decide to pursue this, you could end up with a bundle more than a FPN.

If the police decide its too much trouble then so be it, but if they come knocking you might have wished you'd held your hands up and taken the slapped wrist at the time.

All IMHO, of course.

You have no argument that the NOIP was served out of time. From what you say Bib has shown due diligence in its service even out of time.

You were rash - pay the cash.

Not sending off the V5 is an offence I think, so you could get done for that as well if you are not careful.

It is not a very gentlemanly course of action if you are expecting the previous or subsequent owner to take the rap for you. Take it on the chin.

Sorry, no sympathy whatsoever for red light runners. Thats the one place where I welcome the cameras.

Likewise not registering a car you are using sounds is very much a scrote-like activity to attempt to deflect speeding tickets etc. Did you also not bother with the trifling matters of insurance, tax and MOT?

Someone once said to me "the only red light you move on is a whore". Like Ghost, i've nearly been knocked off my bike by red light runners - just pay the fine.

Well said Mr2Mike.

People who don't register cars in their name and the word "scrote" are too easily linked. This, in itself, is nothing to be proud of.

Running red lights which are placed there for genuine (not spurious) safety reasons is not something to crow about either.

And trying to pass the rap to some other (innocent) party is simply not on.

Pay the fine for the lights, hope you don't get caught for the registration offence and don't do it again.

"Never got round to sending off the logbook"???????

Like it takes what? 30 seconds to fill in. Several seconds to post in letter box...

These people who don't fill in logbooks aren't only trying to evade camera activation. Lets imagine a small collision with an unoccupied car in a supermarket car park. Someones pride and joy TVR perhaps.

Driver of unregister car thinking "Think, Think Think! Nobody has seen me (I think). My car isn't registered. I've got full no claims. Bills to pay. Do I really want to leave my details and have to pay for this? No it. I'm off"....

I nearly got taken out just this morning by a white Escort van jumping a red at the M40/A404 roundabout in High Wycombe. Quite why there aren't traffic light cameras on there I don't understand!

Speeding? Meh... depends on circumstances.

Red light jumping? Never justified IMHO.

Seconded. If you got pinged exceeding a ridiculous speed limit fair do's. Running a red light and not being bothered to fill in a few forms, perhaps hoping for a different outcome to this sort of situation ??. Tough. Sorry, mate, they got you fair and square. Pay it.

How important can any journey be that you are prepared to put other road users at risk .
How would you feel if some prat t boned you for f@{Os sake.
I personally feel all red lights should have a cam, why not, this sort of driving must be far worse than straying over a limit.
Sory if you did not want to hear this no offence.

I am not sure about red light offences. There have been times when I may have left rubber on the (private) road to stop for a RLC on lights with a very short yellow sequence. I dont take any chances with RLCs now.
