60mph indicated in a 50mph zone on the A316 elevated section, North bound this evening.

I went past a parked X5 traffic car and speed gun pointed at me. I passed and they look at me but did not follow.

If they were interested in giving me a ticket, would they follow me and stop me to do so? Or are some speed guns able to video record and they may well send a NIP later in the post?

It is possible for the officer to note your details and send paperwork out in the post. Much more likely though, that at an indicated 60, so probably actual speed of circa 55-58, you were small fry and not worth stopping.
Most would rather stop you at the time, as it negates the need for some of the admin. My guess is that you have nothing to worry about at those margins.

He's not even small fry, he's under the recommended threshold for prosecution for all but 1mph of the potential actual speeds you've quoted.

No chance of a ticket.

Well, depends doesn't it. Was he doing 60, or was he doing 62/63. Was it actual speed of 56 or was it more towards58/59.
If he's doing 57 upwards then there is the potential for a ticket/sac. But yes...as I said, unlikely.

I did say "the speeds you've quoted". I'd probably not have posted it if we could pick other random speeds wink

Would I be right in saying they have 14 days to send me the NIP? (if all conditions are met; car registered to right address and all details correct and up to date).

You'll have to check your letter box for 2 weeks, by which time you'll probably have forgotten all about it wink

If they didn't stop you and the speed gun didn't have a camera attached then you'll be fine. They can't simply note down the speed reading and your registration - video/photographic evidence using a properly calibrated device is required.
