Hello, I got caught speeding just now, was on a very empty dual carriageway but no excuses. Will have to try harder in the future. Have no intention of trying to get out of any punishment but would jut like to understand what that will be.

Plod said they would have let it go up to about 65 but 71 was too much so they have to submit it to their office.
He said he would recommend speed awareness as there was nothing else in my driving that was dangerous, but that they don't always follow the plods recommendation.

Having looked at ACPO guidelines and tried to figure it out but I am unclear on one aspect:
Fixed penalty is from 57mph.
Speed awareness for a 50MPH zone is from 57-64. Which I don't fall into unless they follow the plods recommendation.
It then says "summons in all other cases and above" and the speed is 76MPH
Does this mean that I am covered by 'all other cases' and hence will get a summons? Or am I in standard fixed penalty territory?

Also how long till I am likely to hear back?

If you hear anything it is most likely to be a fixed penalty, resulting in £100 fine and 3 points on your licence.

The column for 'summons in all other cases above' shows the speed you need to be doing for a summons, in 50 limit it's 76, so you're under it. Just a fixed penalty.
