Spotted in Wiltshire. White van that looked remarkably like a Talivan. What tossers!
nope. Just people doing a job. Potentially police officers.
Perhaps the Government are the ones to vent your anger on.
Besides; did you tell them they were tossers? Why not?
Because in many cases you simply can't.
A woman who inspects our school is quite laughably ignorant.
In Police terms it's like having someone coming in to check up on Cops asking you why there are people in your cells, who these people in Blue Uniforms are, they should all be pink, and it's wrong that mass murder should be a crime and you should let them all out.
It's difficult to describe how incredibly ignorant she is. It is genuinely embarrassing. You just stand there with your jaw on the floor. Let's put it this way ; she probably knows less about it than you or any other member of the public does !
What she does have is immense power ; if you complain you complain to her or her mates, and she comes back with a vengeance, shall we say. So no-one does, you just have to manage as best you can.
We have all seen the people charged for not having control of their vehicle sticking their fingers up at the Talivans. Same thing applies.
If it makes a driver feel better to risk a fixed penalty for sticking the fingers up, or shouting abuse from the safety of his moving car; so be it.
At present time, I don't work cameravans, but my colleagues that do..don't seem to bother what driver's think that pass by. They are earning their £100 for sitting in the back of the van, and until the Government says otherwise, will continue to do so...

Freedom of speech curtailment.
You can say what you want so long as you don't offend anyone (unless you are a muslim cleric when you can say anything)
You could stop and have a reasoned arguement with the operator but they often park in places were it is illegal for any other vehicle to park.

Yeah..liked the MC argument.....
A reasoned argument? Why bother? Wont change the mind of the officer inside and some will chat others will tell you to go away.

And that Gary, entirely sums up the problem!!

Yes indeed. The same story repeated throughout human history.

Aye...Thank you..

Streetcop - I did not particularly mean the guys in the van, rather the berks who feel that by labelling the van as a 'Casualty Reduction Unit' they would fool the general public into thinking it was on a worthy mission rather than simply generating more revenues from motorists.
The van was in Swindon if I recall correctly.

Noted.

Is that £100 before or after tax and any other deductions?

The message is a clumsy attempt at brainwashing (or simply fooling), linking such a simple parameter as speed with safety.

It is precisely this attitude that will ultimately lead to a total breakdown in respect for the Police, and why they cannot be surprised when they get little assistance from the general public.
It really makes my blood boil when I hear things like this, yet I think it is a crying shame because in almost all instances other than when dealing with Police on traffic matters, I have a real affinity with the way in which they go about a difficult job.
Does anyone in the force/politicians akcnowledge the damage these policies/actions are having on relations between the Police and the wider law-abiding general public??
polar993 said:Probably, but almost certainly not at decision-making levels, and even less likely (we're into snowballs and hell here!) at policy-making level.
