Complete cock up from me on Saturday morning.

I had driven from Northampton to York - M1/M18/A1M/A64. I was behaving but got a bit complacent when I got onto a clear A64 at about 9.30 and think I got caught on camera. When I saw it I slammed on the anchors and got down to c75 but fairly sure I was over 80 when I saw it. Ironically I had been really well behaved up to that point, both speed and lane discipline.

I have been on the North Yorks Police site and it says that their mobile units are fully liveried. This was a white van with the black windows at the back and it did have a police badge on the side. I wS clinging to the hope that it was a number plate recognition vehicle!

Has anyone else been caught on the A64 or in North Yorkshire?

IIRC North Yorkshire's camera vans have the red/amber chevrons on the back doors but little else visible from the rear.

79-86mph inclusive would be eligible for a speed awareness course according to their website.

Sounds like it was just an ANPR van.

It's a favourite spot,, they love sitting on the A64, generally well out of sight. You often find 2 of them on the bridges VERY early on Sunday mornings, buried in the hedges.

Will be a speed camera.

I do wonder if they are on quite lenient settings though, have been er em, caught out myself but not received a ticket. As a local should know better really.

Still count your self lucky, getting up to that speed on a Saturday morning, it is one of the stupidest roads in Christendom, with appalling lane discipline.
