Hi,

10 days ago I had a concrete garage delivered by one of the leading companies. The chaps had forgotten two concrete sections so were unable to complete the erection and the roof was left off. A few days later two more chaps arrived and completed the erection.

I have now noticed that one of the concrete panels holding the main door has a crack right across it where water is also seeping through. I am concerned at the loss of strength as the door frame is fixed to this now-cracked panel.

I have no wish to cause a major fuss over this but the company has ignored a couple of emails in the past and now I find they are closed until January 4th next year.

What are my rights in having this panel replaced? Can I threaten to reject the garage as not of merchantable quality under the Sale of Goods Act if they refuse to replace the cracked panel?

We paid up front for the garage.

Many thanks.

You can indeed threaten to reject it if they don't put it right. I would open an immediate complaint telling them why you are dissatisfied and that you want it sorted within so many days. If they don't sort it out then you can go to Trading Stds who will sort it out or do them for SoG etc. I wouldn't worry about the thing being in a state over Xmas other than the obvious inconvenience, it isn't going to go anywhere because of a drop of rain.

How does this happen? A person in the real world who is presumably a functioning adult in society has something sub-standard done and needs to come and ask the pH massive about "rights" even before asking the supplier to sort it out.

I'm with Bert on this one.

It seems like PH is infested with people who can barely function in the real world

"I'm thinking of going on holiday - can anyone tell me where to go?"

"Where can I buy socks in Northampton?"

"What's the name of that white ball that I can see in the sky when it's dark?"

"Looking to buy a car, can't decide on a blue one or a red one - please help?"

"Good morning, I was wondering if you could help me? Your company supplied and installed a garage for me, and there is some minor damage to a few of the panels"

"I'm sorry to hear that Sir, we'll send somebody round asap to look into it"

"Oh........That's great thanks"
