Winding my way home on the M62 and the Rozzers came past working their way through traffic (rather effectively) in the dusk hours.

But by god their rear blue led's on the roof bar are bright. Literately (not a word I use lightly) destroyed my night vision for a good few seconds. Is it really necessary? Is there not a night button?

Night button?!

Some cars are equipped with the option to have only front/rear blues on depending what you are doing. Most, however simply have an on or off as far as blues go. They are bright, but that's the idea. It does play havoc with your eyes though. Especially if you're in convoy and following them for miles.

Some vehicles have a "Low Power" button on the light controls. It is intended for use at night but in my experience is has no noticeable effect on the brightness of the lights.

Actually that's a good point. It was bad enough when gone after a few seconds. Following them must be a pain.

We've complained about the lights in my force, so they put in a "low light" button, which does fk all, other than turn a bright white LED on in the car, to indicate you've pressed it!!

The fitters argue that its not their fault, they can only work with what they are provided, which is usually the cheapest st on the market.

They are great in the daylight though
