Chaps,

Can anyone point me in the direction of the performance figures as above. Specifically, I require the 0-60mph, 0-100mph figures etc.

Is there a link, or can someone send me them?

Mucho thanks.

OK DeMolay,
just so you know there's no hard feelings from the past, here's some information for you.
The BMW you speak of could be equipped with either the single turbo diesel power unit or the later unit that was introduced last September.
If it's the early one it is a single turbo, direct injection, 6 cylinder diesel producing 218 BHP at 1800 RPM and around 410 Nm of torque.
That means it'll do 0-62 MPH in a shade over 7 seconds dependent on whether it is a manual or an auto; they are both 6 speed incidentally.
0-100 is about 14 seconds, and top speed is artificially limited to 155 MPH.
The later engine is the same unit but with multi stage twin turbo management producing 272 BHP and an awesome 550 Nm of torque; I can't find the performance figures for that yet but I can tell you it will be in the region of 6 seconds to 62 MPH and 12 to 100.
Now let me tell you a wee secret; I personally have modified several police cars in my time, but it has never been easier than it is now, and what's more, nothing responds better to a "chip" than a modern turbo diesel.
So I can bet you that lots of these police cars will be chipped, never mind what they will or will not admit to.
The thing is, you can't tell by looking at it, it looks absolutely standard because what you are changing is the setup inside the ECU, which is just a computer, so there is no visible sign of modification; but my God, do they go!!
So now you know DeMolay, but I am intrigued as to why you want to know this, are the Traffic Police travelling at insane speeds in diesels now?

I think those 0-100 figures are a tad optimistic.
Numbers below for both versions:

With that much torque? Perhaps not.....

12 seconds is bloody quick though.

The 270bhp car is badged 535i not 530i even though it is a 3l engine still.

Surely it is not an i but a d, because it is diesel, not petrol?

0-100 is 19.4s for the 530d, 15s for the 535d.

Still v. quick for a big diesel though...

There are three issues here lads.
The first is until you've been involved in both driving modern turbo diesels, and by that I mean what would be classed as a performance car, and also the dramatic effects of modifying them, it is difficult to appreciate just how quick they are.
I'm not a BMW fan nowadays, they have lost a great deal in the build quality department, but this 3 litre engine is simply awesome, and it literally drives like a 911 or equivalent sports car.
Secondly, you might be lucky to find someone in the police departments who would hold up there hands and admit to chipping the vehicles, but I doubt it. This of course makes the factory performance times redundant, and sets a whole new standard in acceleration.
Thirdly, this business of badges currently is a real pain in the arse; manufacturers just seem to swing from one silly abbreviation to the next, and it's all about marketing, not engineering.
I need to lift the bonnet, take off the engine cover, and then I can tell you what kind of powerplant you have; not by looking at the scribbles on the rear door.

Chipped would make a considerable difference...

This is for the X5 but same engine as the 530d:
