So, without going into too much detail due to the nature of my GF's work, she's had her brand new (lease through work) Audi A3 less than a year, 5400miles... I'm in Holland working at the moment, so just asking if there's anything else she can do...

Parked up on a client's drive yesterday (with a student at the time), they were at the end of a small cul-de-sac. As they were getting out, noticed a tractor type thing pulling a trailer (possibly a JCB 4x4 with water tanker). They only noticed as it's unusual and quite a big vehicle for the road they were on.

It was noticed shortly after coming 'a bit close', but they were inside doing official things.

After her visit, she's gone outside to find the bd has badly done a 3 point turn and pushed her car into the house, perforated the NSR quarter, popped the rear window and creased the rear passenger door and sill.

Now, obviously, the dhead driving the 'JCB' either hasn't realised he's hit her car, or he's done one cos he's a of the highest order!

So, as there were no witnesses to the incident, police can't do anything apparently but have taken details of the incident. She's royally pissed off (as would we all be), especially as she was parked on her client's drive.

Her lease firm are now dealing with it but any suggestions on how to catch said 'dhead' - if only to make him realise, that could've been a child happily playing on the drive...

Pics below - due to the nature of her work, PLEASE don't try to identify the area! There's no need... Cheers!

The red line is the angle of her car prior to being hit (from her description):

How they didn't realise it'd hit the house IDK, but I wasn't there + aluminium is softer than brick:

Close up of same:

Main damage (she was strangely amused at 'the stuffing coming out'):

Alleged/probable (well, a Mini didn't do this), offending vehicle's tyre tread on client's land pointing straight at her car:

Any help would be appreciated, I'm home on Sunday so will scout the area but not sure if I'll have any luck locating the vehicle (after the fact?)...

"police can't do anything" would annoy me quite signficantly, the lazy serge coated bastids. You finding a tractor marked up with Audi indicators hanging off it probably wont change that.

But "it could have been a kid". Really?

In all fairness, if that were my house, it's quite conceivable one of our 3 children could have been playing on the drive! For some blind fk who clearly shouldn't have a licence to drive up and across a kerb, and several feet of private land and tts a car, without noticing, scares me! So, I think the point is valid...

I've got my C+E, never use it now, but when I'm driving something with hugely restricted vision, I take a large amount of extra care! Something most normal drivers do. Not paying attention is no excuse!

OP, might be worth asking the police again. South Wales Police were very interested indeed after a similar episode and a family member.

Incomparable level of damage, but some driving a large white vehicle left a nasty gauge done the Sid rod my MX5 having used the drive to perform a 3 point turn.

Some people are either just absolute s or shouldn't have been awarded a licence.

That is WITHOUT A DOUBT a failing to stop offence, literally this just had someone prosecuted for this after they drove off from our car park in a hurry.

They were in a hurry as they had just committed a very serious crime next door wink plod were quite keen to find them which they did.

Is it a cul-de-sac? I'm just wondering if he was actually delivering to someone else down the road? Can she do a door to door? It just seems strange for a large vehicle like that to be down a residential street so I'd assume he'd been working round there and start some enquiries with other residents.

Good spot basher, could well be something like that...

Definitely a cul-de-sac, that said, they're still building on a different part of the estate so he/she may have got lost. Still, no excuse!

I'll get my mate to pester his local contacts n I'll be staking out the area when I get back, this kind of st boils my piss too!

Off out for a beer now... thumbup

Can't offer much help, but Christ! That's a big amount of damage...I wouldn't know where to begin repairing that!?

Is it worth asking neighbours if they heard/saw anything (not the incident of course, otherwise they'd probably have come forward already!) but they may have seen the tractor lost up their end of the estate? Just a thought.

This, that would have made a hell of a noise. I'd be knocking on every single person's door within 200 yards to see if they saw anything.

Well if you can't get your head around that, try "it could have been the vehicle owner changing a tyre, or topping up the pressure in the tyres with a 12v compressor, or washing the other side of the car, or lifting a child seat, or some dry cleaning out of the back seat".

Your daft disbelief doesn't change the fact that NO vehicle passing by on the road had any right to be anywhere near the car in question (I'd have been spitting nails at the damage to the grass, mine or not) and any number of people could have been between the car and the house for any number of reasons, and they could have been killed or seriously injured if they'd been there when that idiot struck.

Regardless of the lack of injury to anyone, I would hope that the local police regard that as a very serious matter. To do that kind of damage and then to fail to stop requires a very special kind of ahole. Suggestive of a vehicle being operated by someone without the required training, and therefore not being insured to me. It's no 'minor bump' in a car park, FFS!

Wow. Secret squirrel job visiting clients with students in tow but don't try to guess where she is or what she does. Bit irrelevant.

Whilst I'd also be aggrieved at the damage, it's a company car. Let them sort it.

Had a similar (but less serious) incident 2 years back. Couldn't get BiB interested because it happened on private property... I was wondering if we'd have had better luck getting it recorded as criminal damage, or whatever the phrase is.

OP: Obvious suggestion - Everyone and their dog has CCTV now. Check all round to see if any cameras (even distant ones) would have a view.

Exactly. The compensation for all that company car tax you pay is that someone else takes care of all the hassle when there's a problem.

Somebody's hit her parked car and buggered off. You don't have their plate.

Her insurance.
