Grandma Failed to stop ....what do you do?
I Just watched an old bidy drive into my stationary car whilst I was stood next to it
Tapping on the window quickly led to banging on her roof, she didn't stop or seem to care, not a stuff was given as she attempted to crab sideways at 45 degrees up the side of my car, Into a space just vacated by a Freelander.

I knew that the angle was ambitious so quickly hit my key-fob to turn all lights on as i could see this was going to end badly
With her A series merc munching into my 2014 Mini like a tramp on chips, I started shouting and banging on the roof of her car to stop
Having realised she didn't have enough power to push a stationary mini sideways she abandond the manoeuvre and trundled off to bingo.

I took her number plate, side profile photo, rang the local police 101 but they are not even slightly interested,
Put a blind and deaf old hag behind the wheel of a German Panzer in a built up area and she can run amok in The town centre all night long,

thanks for all your help Warwickshire Police force, so I can now go to my local station and fill a form in, and the granny on Crack can keep on driving, sorry I thought I must have missunderstood
remind me of our last conversation.....oh yep I need to go on a driver awareness course, how ironic that seems now

Anyway I digress

Short of dragging her out of the car what's a man to do in these circumstances?

If I had given chase, what's the end result, I'd have been more than happy to drag some bloke out the car and tt him, if he thinks looking straight ahead and ignoring me, will make the problem go away,
but catching up with that coffin dodger then pulling open her car door to deliver some more Anglo Saxon was never going to be an sensible option even in my highly agitated state

Any constructive suggestions ....it might help the next guy if nothing else

someone's granny got lucky tonight...

Happened to me recently. Went to police syn and reported it after 101 told me to. CPS wanted to do nothing, I just kept on at them and it may now go to court. She committed an offence , gets away with it she could do it again points and a fine might just cincentratevher mind in future. Oh and while the cos were humming and jarring I pointed out, what if had beeen a child? Would they still give him a caution. Paperwork now in progress Hoisted by their own petard

Sorry but I'd ring 999 tell the operator give the details

They would have got a unit out as she clearly needs taking off the road

You shouldn't have felt guilty about dragging her out of the car.

A few months ago a woman in her 60s drove into my house and then tried to drive off. Managed to get the keys out of her car but she fought back. Someone called 999 and the police were there within a couple of minutes. Turns out she was a few planks short and well over the limit for alcohol.

Perhaps she can remember the original Alec Issigonis Mini and was offended by the giant, mutant version before her? I think you were lucky she didn't get out and open a can of whoopass on you. smile

So let Me get this straight:

Some poor old dear makes a misjudgement at parking speed, suddenly out of the blue there are lights flashing all over the place and some bloke is hammering on her windows and roof in an aggressive manner, and you're wondering why she didn't stop?

She was probably too terrified to stop as she was under attack at the time!

So in summary rather than do nothing I should have stood back and-let the carnage continue, perhaps a giving a big thumps after she had finished with my car ?

I hope you have the same opinion when it's a pushchair with kids in next time
Because I'm not sure she would act any differently, that's the whole point of this thread, she could have been seven sheets to the wind and your giving her a get out jail free card because of her hair colour, does this also work for blondes or brunettes ?

+ I feel I behaved correctly in the circumstances, not sure what your bringing to this discussion, unless you happen to have been driving an A class merc last night

What's the suggested course of action in that situation?

Giving the OP the benefit of the doubt that he was banging on the roof in a "Woah woah woah what are you doing, stop" way rather than "I'm gonna fking kill you you fking stupid cow" way.

Surely you can't be that stupid? Hopefully we hear of it happening to you sometime so we can hear how you cheered, waved and threw money at the old bugger.

You know it's drawer don't you. Draw means something totally different.

OP, I would get your insurance involved. They'll be able to trace the old lady's details and if it was recent there's sure to be damage to her car too. Were there any witnesses who could corroborate your story? Do you have any dashcam footage showing that you were parked up at the time? All of those would help.

And if she was running over his kid at the time?

If she is so panicked and so s**e at driving she should not be on the road where the next time it might be a kid under her wheels.

OP, I'd escalate this with plod and I'd speak to the local papers - a "do you know this woman" kind of story may at least ensure others keep out of her damn way if the police are happy to risk people being killed by her.
