Everyone know's better. I'm not sure if a Policeman is any better or worse.

Not everyone played a leading role in the police force's annual crackdown on festive drink-driving though. hehe

I would hope that a Policeman whose role has seen him speak at numerous inquests and court cases around driving offences and saw him take a leading role in the force's annual crackdown on festive drink-driving would know better.

This is true, 99.9% don't do it in quite a spectacularly hypocritical fashion though.

Regardless of him knowing better or not, it makes him a big hypocrite.

Although you can never be sure, he looks like he's not too far from retiring. The pension (he would be on if so) is heavily weighted towards the last years of service. That'd be a much bigger hit than the DD conviction.

That's if he loses his job of course.

Or is that a certainty now?

I would think it's a certainty unless there are exceptional, extreme circumstances. Once the criminal matter has been dealt with the misconduct can be progressed.

It was automatic in my force unless there were strong mitigating circumstances. This was challenged and so it became conditional, although it remained, in effect, automatic.

What a complete fool.

I'd put money on him being given the boot in the not too distant future.

An error of judgement on his part.

I wonder if he was under his constabulary's Occupational Health Dept. for the PTSD?

If he was on their radar as an officer with PTSD that may have had more credibility than mentioning it after he'd been caught drink driving?

Neatly illustrates alcohol abusers come in all shapes, sizes and occupations. Quite sad, really.

Very silly, especially at 49 he's only a year off retiring.

Sympathy rather than gloating in order. I don't condone his actions but the whole divorce and living in a section house at his age suggests a car crash of a life and an individual struggling to cope with it.

Fair enough, the crime is the crime and the consequences are the consequences but there is no cause for celebration.

A percentage of the population have drink and substance abuse problems, a percentage will be child abusers, a percentage are morally corrupt. As such, the Police will have a proportion of staff who will let them down. We shouldn't be surprised, we shouldn't gloat and we shouldn't assume that the actions of individuals reflect the standards of police officers in general. People are people and do what they do.

Itll depend on how old he was when he joined - could well have a few years to do. Pretty much guaranteed to lose his job - wasn't always the case in the past though.
