I drove my wifes Volvo V70 R to friends in The Netherlands on Thursday morning, first off the car. Never missed a beat in a 600 plus mile round trip, cruised at 3 figures through Northern France and Belgium and negotiated the cobbled streets of Zeeland towns and returned 26 MPG for the trip.

But, on the outskirts of Brugges on the E40 I saw for the first time ever proper military style camoflage on speed cameras! Tucked away in the bushes at the side of the road, with the Politie car 100 yards down the road.

They were unmanned and looked like LCD projectors on tripods all cammed up!

Luckily I was observing the national speed limit at the time.

How long before we get plod using them here?

Once the anti-car pressure groups convince the gov't that:
- everyone is slowing down for yellow cams
- deaths go down at cam sites
- it would be good if nobody knew where they were so deaths can go down everywhere.

...it's a short step to camouflage.

I'm sure that's the point of the increase in vans. Most are not marked up properly facing the direction of travel, and are parked where they might be missed anyway. It's pretty much the same as camouflage already.

Vans and now bikes can be parked anywhere meaning that the GPS based systems are useless.
Vans can deploy mini gatso (Sheffield) meaning even less chance of detection.
Vans are liveried like work vans, less chance of detection.

lasered a car yesterday and stopped it for exceeding speed limit...by grand amount..

I think the detection device was a Snooper that he had on the windscreen..

Didn't help him much...
