was involved in a crash last week, non fault rear ended.

Its been a week since the appointed garage took an estimate, but nothing has happened yet. rang up insurance they said maybe 2/3 days they're unsure. Any idea what kind of timescale is involved?

Can i just bail, and use a recommended garage from a mate instead?

I was just under 2 weeks when I got a text from the garage telling me my repairs were being approved. Heard nothing from the third party insurance company at all.

Who are you claiming from? Your own insurer, or directly from the other driver's?

no they haven't given me a courtesy car. My cars been parked up in my driveway since the incident, and i'm refusing to drive it as its pulling to one side since the shunt.

So they're in no rush.

You said it'd been hit in the rear? Was it punted to one side into a kerb?

If not, then if it's been hit hard enough from behind to affect the suspension, I doubt it's going to be repaired.

In my experience, unless you push them, they won't rush, demand a courtesy car matching the level of your own, and make it clear you want it immediately. Mention the phrase 'treating customers fairly' and they will begin to jump. Last time I had someone hit a car, they picked the car up the same afternoon, took it to the garage, and started work two days lat having had pictures of the damage and a brief visit from their local adjuster.

There was a reason for dacouch's question.

I am sort of in this position now. My car was shunted while parked and other party has admitted fault. I don't need a courtesy car at the moment so insurance (LV) give me £20 a day instead. The assessor came yesterday and I was told they will give me the outcome tomorrow. All pretty quick so far.
