Interesting local news story for me .... apparently obviously illegal moto-crosser captured on dash cam being brake tested and detained by the public. Would you do the same?

Both are idiots for different reasons.
Personally i wouldn't have brake checked him because i wouldn't want to deal with all the repercussions following it.

I.e left dealing with a damaged car and potentially a group of unsavoury people turning up at your door at some point later.

I can't ever justify a brake test, the one thing guaranteed to make me boil. Really surprised to see passers-by stop and largely help detain the biker tho.

I did almost exactly the same thing to a pair of chavs riding an illegal dirt bike with no helmets about a year ago. I posted about it on here and was slated by a few people for my actions.

I saw them flying through traffic on a busy roundabout and slammed on my van brakes causing them to swerve and almost fall right off. To see the look of total and utter disbelief and fury on their faces was worth it alone.

Personally I think the Merc driver should have backed over him once he was on the ground just make sure the chavvy little st can never ride a bike again.

If there's one thing I can't stand it's chavs who believe they are above the law and flaunt it so blatantly. As you can probably tell.

Brake-tested? Looked to me like he just stopped, probably wanting to remonstrate with the idiot on the bike up his chuff.

This, he stopped positively but it was not a brake test, he just stopped the biker from getting past. 100% with the merc driver here, doing what most people (myself included probably) wouldn't have the balls to do.

As a rider of motorcycles, I totally agree with this post.

Would you feel the same if say you were on a spirited ride and i got pissed off with you racing round exceeding the speed limit and blocked you in?

I think not.

Don't get me wrong the trials bike rider is a tt , no plate etc but it's interesting how these little biker clique's feel some laws apply to them and some don't depending on what clique you belong to.

Looks to me like the Merc driver was trying to stop somebody riding a bike illegally and dangerously, whether he should have done so is obviously subjective but I think understandable depending on circumstances. I wouldn't call it a brake test either. Seems like the bike rider's skills were so poor he couldn't stop a bike faster than a car braking not particularly quickly.

Having said the above, I'm sure it was at least close to being a bit of an illegal move on the Merc's part.

My first thought was this isn't a brake test, the bike had plenty of time to react. Nice one Merc driver! He did well not to do more to the guy.

What's the point in telling the story if theirs no outcome to it.

Anyone know what happened in the end.

Good on the Merc driver.

If more ordinary citizens publicly challenged these kinds of chavvy scrotes then perhaps there wouldn't be such a proliferation of them.

The problem here is you have to tell your insurance that you have been in an accident and also you will never get the cost to repair the damage on your car.

Wonder if the criminal comp fund would cover it.

There's a good chance if you brake check someone and there's evidence of that and no rational reason for doing it, then the third party can claim for personal injury & damage to their vehicle regardless if they are insured or not.

I agree 100% with Hooli.

Where your (egor110) argument falls down is that if I (and I'm guessing Hooli, too) was on a spirited ride, I would NOT be racing around exceeding the speed limit (it's very much possible to have a spirited ride within the confines of the law, you know), even if I did exceed the limit at one or two places, it would NEVER be in a 30 mph, or even 40/50 mph, limit area, and I would NEVER EVER ride on the kerb, over roundabouts etc., and most certainly not be so inattentive that I would smack my bike into the back of the vehicle ahead when it brakes. Spirited riding requires even more attention than just cruising around. Not just that, but it's aholes like the tt in the video that give bikers a bad name. That's not spirited riding in the video, that's riding like an absolute c u next Tuesday. Well done Merc man.

But my argument still stands.

I replied when I did because I recognized names from biker banter , hang around there and you'll find your ' I never speed' is the exception compared to the ' I may speed when the roads are quiet and conditions allow' majority.
