Anyone know if there is a legal minimum age for a witness to a motor accident?

Our witness is 15 and his statement is being ignore as the insurance company say he's not old enough to be a witness.

Sounds like rubbish to me, but wanted to see if any of the plod on here knew.

15 years old is fine...

If they are interviewed by the police, the youth will have to have a parent or guardian present...and if the accident was especially traumatic to witness, the statement will be taken on video..(ie: not written down at the time...the BiB will just 'chat' to the youth in a video room at the nick)

OK just as I thought, was a minor accident but mr 3rd party has changed the story and has no witness, and my insurance company (heaven forbid they actually do some work for me for once) are being less than helpful unlike your good self

Many thanks,
Steve

ta..

As it's a minor accident...the police are unlikely to get involved at this stage. (if they haven't been involved so far).

As for your insurance firm...I'm surprised why they are being difficult..especially if it's to save them some money...

Keep working at 'em...and do some leg work, if they wont...pictures of the scene, drawings...etc etc.

Just been called and told that the 3rd party insurers have accepted 100% liability and the cheque is in the post..?

Weird as 2 hours ago it hadn't moved on for over a month!

Oh well its the result I wanted
