some government tax collector said:
He said the initial slip-up was caused by the camera operator moving his camera too rapidly between the speeding car and Mrs Fitzpatrick’s vehicle.
“The digitising system that picks up the offences identified the wrong car,” he said.
Mr Hewitt said normally such an error was picked up during the rigorous checking system in his office.
“This is a very rare coincidence of three failures in that system, and we are confident that it does not represent a significant problem,” he added.

I'll bet it's nowhere near as rare as they would like to make out. If three systems of checks fail then there's something seriously wrong.

So what do they regard as a significant problem? Automated policing must be 100% accurate otherwise law abiding citizens will get done for crimes that havn't occured.

Add up all the people scammed in error and you get a miscarridge of justice that puts the whole legal system in jepody.

Is it any wonder that many people no longer respect the laws and the police who correctly uphold these laws.

They should put Tasers in the handle that go off if the device is moved before it has finished its current operation. Nothing like a bit of fear to make sure you do your job correctly

The real three failures:

Failure 1, motorist protested innocence
Failure 2, Motorist continued to protest innocence, even when threatened with court, fine, ban, jail....
Failure 3, Police agreed with her

I wonder just how many false positives slip though because motorists believe it's easier to accept the points/fine?
