Constance seems to have transgressed once again.
It was of course all a simple misunderstanding regarding failure to identify the driver of a vehicle registered to her, and caught speeding in a 30 mph limit.
The court ignored her mitigation that she had a blameless driving record before 2014... perhaps influenced by her part in the Chris Huhne/Vicky Pryce perverting the course of justice affair, and added 6 points to the 6 she already had on her licence, earning her a 6 month driving ban and £880 fine.

Daily Echo said:
Briscoe, who was one of the country's first black judges, was jailed for 16 months after emails revealed she helped Pryce release the information to the press, although she denied it.

Last week she appeared at Stratford Magistrates Court charged with failing to give information relating to the identification of a grey BMW M1 sports car registered in her name that was seen speeding in a 30mph zone in London.

She told the court that she had not ignored letters sent to her about the incident, saying that was the reason behind her not showing up to an earlier hearing, while also pointing to her clean driving record before 2014.

However the court found against her and added a six points to the six she already had on her licence.

She was disqualified from driving for six months and charged costs of £880.
I trust that the rest of the judiciary are of better calibre than Ms Briscoe, and we are not being judged by people of low moral standards!

Apparently it was registered to her - she didn't admit to driving it.
I wonder if it is insured for her to drive...? smile

She was jailed in 2014 for 16 months for 3 charges for perverting the course of justice and in the same year she was removed from the judiciary.

She still seems to think she is above the law.

So are police officers, but their testimony in court is afforded a great deal of credibility.
Should those who threaten that credibility be prosecuted for destroying confidence in the system?
I do think the selection process for each should be much more rigorous and properly financed to reduce the chance of bad apples getting through.

Why? Is there a problem with judges committing crime?

No, of course not. They are policemen and judges, who enforce the laws or sit in judgement over others, so when they commit a crime, or make mistakes we can all confidently look the other way and not worry about the rest of them.

Her mother lost her civil case against her daughters allegations made in her book.
She must be thinking that things might be different now!

If it was anyone else the usual suspects would be on here banging on about the requirement to identify the driver being a sign that we are sleep walking into a police state etc

So is there a problem with judges committing crime that requires reforming the selection process?

If so, what makes you come to that conclusion? How many commit crimes? What's wrong with the current process? How should it change?

Owes HMRC £150k too according to the Torygraph. I'm surprised we haven't heard that the tax authorities have moved to seize her assets and/or commence bankruptcy proceedings. She seems more than a tad dysfunctional in all areas.

The Telegraph report appears to indicate that her original 6 points were for failure to identify as well as this set.

I wonder what the original speeding offense was and would it have fallen within the 3 points threshold for a FPN if she had named the responsible person.

1M more likely, but she probably calls it a M1

Not that many grey M1's, less than handful - worth £400k+
