Evening all.

Potentially a bad start to the weekend... Coming home tonight along Holloway Road in north London I seem to have got flashed by a red light camera.

The lights for the left turn lane were red. The lights for straight on traffic were green. I was going straight on and it flashed as I went through.

Glancing at my speed as it flashed it was certainly showing 30…

This camera was flashing wildly yesterday. Does anyone know if it is faulty? If not its squeaky bum time for the next 6 months.

I'll be pretty hacked off if I get done for something. At the next set of lights a micra went through after they had been red for a good couple of seconds and the camera didn't go off!

Have attempted to post a link of the location below...

There's a small delay (~1second) after the amber goes to red before the camera is 'live'. If the rear of your car has cleared the white line as it goes red your probably in the clear.

Markings on the road suggest it is a dual purpose cam. Snaps red light jumpers during the red light phase and speeders during the green light phase. What's the speed limit? An Islingtonian 20? And did you get a double flash?

The A1 / Holloway Road is a 30 limit. I ride to and from work along there 5 days a week and there's repeaters along it to say it's 30 and the reversable gatso 200m back down the road and 400m up the road is set to 30 otherwise I'd have been done 100 times already so I'm 99.9% sure I wasn't speeding. As I say when it flashed I looked at the speedo and it was at 30. Applying the 10%+2 rule the camera shouldn't even flash unless I am doing 35. Unless that rules a load of boolaks.

I dunno. Just crossing my fingers now.

I'm no legal eagle, but since it's 1.30am and you apparently can't sleep...

It's not 6 months of suffering from a squeaky bottom. They have 14 days (starting the day after the alleged offence) to supply you with a NIP. As it is, however, you state you (1) went ahead on a green light and (2) weren't speeding. So, what's to worry about?

I'm sure someone else suitably sanctimonious qualified will be along soon. hehe

Just clarify something. You went through a red light camera while the light was green and you're concerned?

Fine unless it's a speed on green camera.

Are you sure of your 30mph speed?

Thanks for the replies. I had returned from the pub rather than losing sleep but thanks haha

I was in the rightmost lane. Towards the middle of the road.

99% sure if being at 30 and certain it's a 30 limit.

Only time will tell.

If it's any help, I've set off a red light camera - along with thousands of other motorists when it got its knickers in a twist and flashed everyone who went on green. Never heard any more and didn't expect to either.
