Online bookies payout problem
Discussion
I won some money from an online bookies, went to withdrawl the money but it has now been put on hold as they need to validate a card that I used in January on the account but i subsiquently lost it a week later. My new card is same bank but different card number.
They asked me to contact the bank to obtain proof of card ownership which the bank say they can't do for various reasons, data protection etc.
I have gone back to the bookies explained situation, sent a copy of my bank statement showing payment in and out to bookrs on day they want evidence for, but the bookies say as the card number is not recorded on the statement, it just says bcc, then it doesnt satisfy there security department checks.
The gambling commission doesn't get involved in payput disputes and the bookie customer service is rubbish, same repeated lines they need proof that I owned my lost card.
Any ideas how I can recover my money owed. Small claims courts it is around £550 owed to me.

i might be missing the point completely, but cant you just ask for it to be paid to you in a different for, cheque, BACS etc?
or is it that they are questioning the source of the funds to place the bet? if thats the case, would they be asking the same questions if you had lost the bet?

Cant name them but 'one' bet is enough for me now. I never knew they could be such gits. It wasnt even skill just pure luck game.
My bank still wont give details so logded a complaint. I have checked there terms and they can withhold payment to varify identification, but identification isnt specified so I think I have enough to prove in court. Worth the 60 quid to go to court considering the amount I have lost over time
All the abritation companies offer no legally binding judgments.

Send them a 7 day letter, they will pay before court for sure...and make sure you serve the papers on the correct company, online arm is often seperate from bricks and mortar businessMy bank still wont give details so logded a complaint. I work for one of the, if not the biggest gambling companies (doing mobile apps). They are governed by PCI compliance etc just the same as banks and financial institutions. They aren't trying to "steal" your money or stop you getting to it, you've won it and it's there in your account. They're just applying normal rules.
Incidentally - can you not attach another payment method to the account (I don't recall whether you can have more than one card but certainly with the systems I use you can have multiple methods) such as BACS?
I know someone who works in the horse racing industry, as a result he has been very successful with his bets. I was shocked to find he has had bets rejected and accounts closed on some sites when his bets have exceeded his loses consistently, some impose limits like no more the £10 bets etc.

Went to open an account for baby daughter, had her birth cert and all our docs and filled out application which was fine for my youngest. They won't open an account without proof of address now so I guess I am going to have to stick the council tax in the name of a 1 year old!!! Crazy.
Attaching another payment is not an option.
Asking to validate an old card on my account is just stupid, what purpose does it prove, nothing. I sent my new card to show I owned it but not interested. I explained that you have to input the the cvv number when you deposit so had to own the card. The withdrawl is going to my new card the old one has nothing to do with account anymore but you can't remove it. The whole process is extremely frustrating over something that I should be happy on winning some money.
I will be closing my account after this.

An idea, not legal advice.
DPA request against bookies.
They provide you with the card numbers they hold for you against your account, you provide them with that.
Personally i would just issue and be very noisy about it, they appear to be misusing the relevant legislation.
Would also complain to the body (not sure who and not in google mode) who issues the licences to them about their conduct.

Urban myth. They are quite happy to pay out, because in 99% of cases they will get it back again plus some more over time.Quoting some sore loser on the web saying he was cheated out of his winnings is not evidence of anything other than your susceptibility to a good sob story.

I do not agree with what you saying....Betbldie as an example are renown for been nothing less than difficult, withholding payment.
OP...if you are on twitter find the chap below, he will help you get paid, he specialises in suing bookmakers and helping people get their money. (free of charge )

I don't see a problem with it as long as he has received everything he has won, thereafter putting limits on to cut their losses etc. It's a business and they don't have to serve certain punters if they don't want to. My cousin is a greyhound trainer and he's done fairly well on bets, one of his online accounts was given similar limits to what you stated after a succession of wins, nothing OTT, but they don't like it.
This bookmaker would be Coral would it.
I remember winning quite a lot on an accumulator few years back. Had to send photo of my driving licence, passport, proof of address in form of three utility bills before they would let me withdraw.
So after they let me withdraw I closed my account and moved to Paddy Power
