I just noticed a fairly local gatso to me, Has had some major fire (flame) cosmetics done to it. It's on the A128 between brentwood and onger nr Kelvendon hatch. The tree it was put in front of suffered some damage as well. Can't see how bad the damage was due to a orange bag has been put on top. With the usual sign Camera not in use. Will get some pics later and post up. Atb Derek

Please post some pics I'd love to see them, there's quite a good tree surgeon in these parts that may be able to help.

must be a design fault with all these cameras bursting into flames

Sad reflection on society, I'm a middle aged, middle class professional and would look the other way if I saw this taking place. Sad but true.

lol, ditto. i certainly wouldn't piss on one if i saw one on fire.

burn baby burn.

it's heartening to know that some people out there are willing to do "illegal" acts in defence of our mutual freedom - many parallels with the fox hunting folk.

Hypotheticaly speaking, what do we think is the best technique for achieveing this end?

Further, when would we consider it fair game? Three points? Six points? Nine points or loss of licence?

You know what....although I don't condem the actions of these people, would it not be better to put up signs saying:

"WARNING: GATSO AHEAD. KEEP YOUR SPEED TO XXMPH!"

There is less of a risk of prosecution and you'll find the camera profits go down AND the GATSO's won't simply get replaced as this costs a fortune and comes out of our pockets (tax money - it's what pays for the police).

People have been prosecuted, successfully, for warning others of speed cameras.

I'm afraid I cant recall the charge, but a quick google would reveal the info.

Which does rather conflict with the various propaganda about these devices....

Surely burning them constitutes as a criminal offence????
