I have had a discussion with a cyclist about riding on footpaths.
He claims that the signage nearby indicates that the path is shared cycle/pedestrian.
The question is, does a shared path have signs at either end or just at the start?
The pavement is at the junction of Fore St. and Moor Lane,in Moor Lane there is a road narrowing where traffic coming from Fore St. has right of way. Either side of the road on both pavements are signs indicating shared pavements.I think that these signs are only for the section of pavement either side of the road narrowing to enable cyclists to continue without having to stop or contend with other vehicles

The street names are handy - but which area is this?

Sorry should have said it's in the City of London near The Barbican.

Correct for that location - https://goo.gl/maps/ZyBKLtNz5rE2
There are no pavement sharing signs elsewhere in Moor Lane.
This is an earlier view - https://goo.gl/maps/4XqVSoP9JwH2
Note how the road layout has changed since then.

This is the right spot.
The discussion was whether the shared pavement continues on after turning left into Fore st. At the moment the road in Fore st. is closed to traffic and a lot of cyclists ride along the pavement and I've been pointing out to those I see that it is a footpath not a cycle path.
There are bollards along the kerb but none of them show any signage to indicate that it is a shared path, the only signs are in Moor Lane.

But there are no signs on the pavement to say when it stops being a shared footpath/cyclepath, so it is until it says it isn't.

However on a shared footpath/cyclepath (even if part is marked for pedestrians and part for cyclists), pedestrians have priority over the whole footpath and cyclists need to give way to them. Unfortunately most cyclists don't know or don't care, so have to be encouraged to understand.

The four bollards on the pavement to the left of the picture have signs on them, the two nearest the camera have signs looking towards the camera the two further away have signs looking away from the camera.
Possibly the worlds shortest cycle path?

The view from the opposite direction.

AFAICS there are no mandatory Regulations or Directions in respect of signs to Diagrams 965 or 966 (Traffic Signs Manual Chapter 3).
The shared part ceases where the pavement ends after the final bollard on each side - https://goo.gl/maps/Cnuaa1CxD7L2
Where the pavement on each side begins again there are no repeater signs so the shared environment no longer applies.

Are you sure it's not a footway, rather than a footpath? There isn't a law preventing cyclists from riding on foopaths, only footways

Thank you. This answers my question.
