If it's not in Scotland, a speed awareness course.

What grounds do you think a solicitor will get you off? Very unlikely you'll win against the prosecution, I always think solicitors are only good at helping plead and get the punishment down.

Don't bother with a lawyer - if they prosecute its a standard 3 points and £100.

Will this go to court, or will the evil perp be offered a speed awareness course?

In Hampshire the trafpol seem to dish out awareness courses for such deeds for points-free drivers; I got one for 36 in a 30.

I believe the Met first have to make the offer, then you can fill out the online form and enjoy three hours of constabulary-funded biscuits. But no points and no insurance worries afterwards.

Would be surprised if you weren't offered the tedium of a speed awareness course.

Try and take some methadone before you go. It will help in listening to the BS from the anti speed (ie stationary) drones and the fascist wannabes in the audience.

Sadly we don't know whether he needed a lawyer or not since no one explained what happened.

Incorrect. Read the thread. Summary for the hard of thinking. OP prosecuted for 74/30. Internet idiot tells him to expect a 3 month ban. OP instructs lawyer. Lawyer identifies a defence. Defence communicated to prosecuting authority. Case dropped.

When he stated he was looking for a lawyer to not evade the conviction but to minimise the penalty, then for a 37 in a 30 it's not really appropriate. If he needed to evade the conviction then he might. And to get off altogether would be the maximum reduction but I suspect that would cost more than £100 in legal fees and so worse off other than the 3 points.

I've also said the speed awareness course which will almost certainly be offered would be the best course of action.

If you disagree with that advice and the OP presented himself with the above and you still chose to take his money.. I think it says more about your scruples than anything else.

Yes, and how was your speed awareness course?

An extremely unfair and undeserved crack at a valuable and vital part of safer driving.

I guess you are probably a default breaker of speed limits

Why do you even come on PH? Seriously people like you ruin this board. Speed awareness courses are run by people that have failed in life and are angry and bitter. They spend time explaining road safety statistics created when the Ford Anglia was cutting edge.

I apologise to all the children who play on the A24 from Dorking to Box Hill for the harm I put them in.

And yes I am. If it is safe to do 90 I will do 90.

I imagine you tutting and that makes me laugh.

Apart from this, not worth replying.
