Probably an indicated 36/37mph on the speedo so yes, he does need to watch it.

My mother has just been on a speed awareness course for 34 in a 30 (Herefordshire) so it seems as though the 10% +2 leeway may now be reduced to just 10% in some areas?

Edit: This is only information I have been told by her so not to be taken as being factual, I have not seen the NIP etc.

He lives several hours away from me, he came over visiting last week. The NIP arrived in the post yesterday.

I hope no one suggests that this is anything to do with anyones revenue...... rather than road safety.

Ditto, why is it always an acquaintance or relative, never the actual poster?

Well, my father is in his 70's and is not computer literate. He telephoned me yesterday to tell me the news of his additional expense. Should I buy him a computer, show him how to use it, buy him a camera or a scanner, get him to take a picture of the NIP, get him to register on PH and post the details, or should I just send a quick message from me to watch your speedos?

Just a thought, but why not get him or someone he knows to snap the NIP with a camera phone, text the image to you and then you can de-personalise and post it here.

Interestingly it says that the particular police force has discretion, ultimately.

So either something not quite as described by the OP, a mistake, or someone's wife just ran off with a guy in a fast car.

33 in a 30 is pretty good going - normally if you try to do anywhere near 30 you end up with some idiot three inches off your rear bumper, dying to overtake at the earliest opportunity.

Interesting. Herefordshire's West Mercia force, so that's a good swathe of the West Midlands - Herefordshire, Shropshire, Worcestershire - that are below that threshold, LoonCustard notwithstanding.

Do you know whereabouts it was?

Not 100% sure where exactly, but she said close to home so I would say around the Forest of Dean/Ross on Wye area (could also have been just into Monmouthshire so possibly Gwent police, less likely though)
