MOT question and driving clarification
Discussion
This isn't the usual can I drive to and from a station as I know those rules
I have a awkward? situation though and just need to double check I can still drive.
Last Tuesday I purchased a L200 (absolutely love it).
I checked the MOT history and wasn't convinced about the recent MOT - zero advisories compared to a several on the previous.
So I had it in for a MOT today and surprisingly it failed for 9 things! (nothing dangerous) and 15 advisories......
Dealer is fixing however.
The MOT from before doesn't expire until 1st May next year too.
One of the lads at the testing station said I wasn't allowed to drive it because it had failed even though previous MOT had 11 months left, but 2 other colleagues said I could as that law never passed.
Any ideas if I can or can't?
It's booked in next Wednesday for a retest to make sure it's roadworthy.

Government advice.
Short answer is yes you can drive it. Of course, if it isn't roadworthy then you probably shouldn't drive it.

I only need it Monday now and it's in repair Tuesday.
I was told by the MOT station it's nothing of concern but I'm still going to reduce my driving as much as possible

There's a lot of confusion recently about the new wording of the guidance on the gov website.
They're trying to discourage idiots from driving dangerous cars after they fail an MOT because so many people thought because the old one is valid it's still ok to drive.
But failing an MOT doesn't invalidate the old one. But depending on what it failed on, it might not be legal to drive on the road due to being dangerous / not roadworthy.
