if these are parked illegally are you allowed to refute the fine and state this as a reason?

i thought i saw somewhere that if the van was parked illegally then you could state this and not be fined?

is it true or is someone telling me lies?

They scamera operators usually get special leave to park where they park whether it's dangerous or not because they're contributing to road safety you see.

Has there been a publicised incident yet involving someone driving into an illegally Parked Scamera van?

I would be very interested to know how they would shift the blame onto the driver rather than the illegal parker.

Luckily I am not actually curious enough to try this out but What would happen for instance if I applied full lock and brakes and ploughed into an illegally parked Scammer? When the cops arrived I would explain that I saw the van, checked my speed and looked up to see a kid infront of me so i took avoiding action and hit this idiot parked on the chevrons...hardly suprising the scammer didn't see the kid as it was a not very well lit country road, at night, etc..

It matters not where the van is packed. Thats a separate issue to your speed.

Saying that, if I was a farmer and found one in my field, I'd take great pleasure from locking the gates with ruddy great padlocks, and demanding a 'removal fee'.

No
Nor does it matter that it is not signed, hidden, not at an accident black spot, that it is set for 1mph over the limit.
