I got caught by a camera van in my wife's C63 doing 87 in a 60. North Wales on A5 overtaking a slow moving car on twin lane section. (Not dual carriageway)
Just been informed that it will be dealt with by a magistrate.

What can I expect?

Car is now up for sale, does this help in mitigation?
Any other advice?

Cheers

Points: 4-6
Normal fine range: £263 - £438
Disqualification possible? Consider 7-28 days
Maximum fine: £1000

This is odd as there isn't a "normal fine range" in England & Wales. This is something you made up or found on the internet and wrongly assumed was correct. As you ought to know, fines are income based. Even using £440 as deemed income (which is presumed by the court in the absence of other information) your guess makes no sense.

In reality, OP may expect a Band B fine. Determine net weekly income. Let this equal N. If N>1000 then N=1000.
Assuming an early guilty plea the most likely fine is N x two-thirds and the sentencing range is N x one-half to N x five-sixths.

If OP was being dealt with in Yorkshire then the local guidline for 87/60 is 5 points. The national guideline (including Wales) is 4-6 points or disqualify 7-28 days.

How would we know what your mitigation is? Thats between you and the court.

Wife's 63 what do you drive then, or does she wear the trousers?

If you have a rover metro you might be able to say your not used to such a powerful car etc.

As long as your licenceis clean I would expect 6 points and a decent fine £350 maybe.

If you have already been a player on brucie's generation game and have points maybe a short ban.

Less than a fixed penalty. No chance.

What makes you think OP earns about £530 net per week?

The car being up for sale won't help sadly in mitigation.

Good luck though but it was a tad silly.

Could say we have decided it's to fast and expensive to run. As a direct result of this fine you have decided you have little concept in speed in a 6.3 litre, so are getting rid.

Mildly interesting that you dodged a fixed penalty.

Ty Nant to Dinmael, the downhill stretch? The first proper overtaking opportunity for 15 or so miles? camera van hiding behind a low wall at the bottom?

I got fixed penalty and 3 points for 80. Obviously the bloke who accelerated to block the overtake got nothing, as did the guy tailgating through the overtake.

Safety first!

That's where I got caught about 12 years ago, Halton crossroads I think they call it.

87 in 60 too. Had to go to Wrexham magistrates court with the riff raff and have three magistrates glare over their glasses at me from their lofty perch.

5 points and £450.

I still drive fast up there after checking out the bridge.

My dad got caught at 72 on that exact stretch, didn't even realise until he got the NIP. Seems to catch loads of people out - suspect the van is very well hidden.

That is exactly the place!
