Purely out of curiosity as I was doing an indicated 75mph on a dual carriageway...

Today I saw a camera van parked on the verge of the A14. Earlier in the day it was in a westbound layby just by the Newmarket on slip, but on my return to the office it was on the eastbound carriageway about 1.5 miles further west. It was clearly labelled as Suffolk Police, but was comfortably inside the Cambridgeshire border once it had moved to the eastbound side. Would that make any tickets it issued invalid?

TL:DR Suffolk camera van operating about 1 mile into Cambridgeshire. Will any tickets be valid as a result?

But the first was edited after the second answer (& two different answers comment) was posted.

The operative must have been wearing a hat for the ticket to be valid.

Fact.

Also the driver must have been speeding before a ticket is issued.

One was on that slight bend heading west just before the guineas service station I'm guessing?
The other one must of been near the fixed camera I'm guessing (eastbound) little way further after people have got speed up again.

No. No prosecutions can result from a police 'service' being in anothers force area.

Next time a rozzer tries to stop you just drive across the county line and you are Scott free.

I often make a run for the boarder only to leave officers powerless and punching their steering wheels in frustration as I whizz off into the neighbouring county.

They'll never take me alive.

If these were counties in the US and they just happened to have the same town names as the UK, then maybe.

Otherwise, not so much.

Have you been watching too much Dukes of Hazzard?

I've never heard of any extradition treaty between Cambridgeshire and Suffolk so i'm gonna say it's all true.

If i get one of those cars that can go on water, am i safe going from Hampshire to the Isle of Wight? or are they consider part of the same county?
