Hello.

Got a Parking Eye £100 charge this morning despite being authoised to park there by the hotel reception and entering my reg in the desk terminal.

Hotel have said email them the charge notice and they will get it cancelled.

Obivously I am expecting an email from the hotel saying this has been done but I'm not expecting PE to contact me, even if they internally cancel it.

I don't really want to contact PE but what is the best course of action to make absolutely sure this doesn't devolve into a three way argument (he said, she said etc.)?

Thanks.

The best way to prevent future disputes on who said what, is to make sure that all communication and correspondence with all parties is in writing.

They won't tell you if its been cancelled. I had one cancelled and I only found out when I tried to pay online and the system rejected the payment. It wasn't parking eye though. I phoned them and they said that the client had cancelled it.

Thanks.

I'm awaiting a formal reply from the hotel that this will be actioned and I'm also hoping I will then be forwarded a copy of PE's correspondence to hotel.

I suppose what I'm trying to say is that if I get to day 13 or whatever and I've had written acknowledge from the Hotel that the charge has been cancelled but nothing proving it from PE, should I go through the appeal process with PE?

Yes, appeal it

And write to the hotel asking them formally to cancel

I've lost count how many times this has happened to me with hotels.

Never ever had a problem with it after contacting the hotel to let them know.

PE for all of their faults, do usually send a letter of confirmation when the charge has been cancelled.

I get quite a few of them across my desk - if our clients get any parking charges dropped, then we credit any admin/processing fee.

Early this year I allegedly stayed in Morrisons car park for 5 hours (3 hours free parking). I didn't even know it was a controlled car park til I got the threatening letter as it was previously council, then it was free for a couple of years, then NCP took control. The signage isn't exactly in your face, I had to go back to have a look.

Anyway, I ignored the pond life and wrote to Morrisons customer service to let them know I'd been in twice that day. I shop there weekly, and on this particular day visited twice. I also pointed out that there are three other major supermarkets within a 5 minute drive, none of which were demanding £100 for parking...

Rather than checking five hours cctv looking for me leaving and re-entering, Morrisons just told NCP to cancel the "ticket". I heard nothing more from NCP, and I certainly wouldn't waste my time chasing it. If I get a letter from the court I'll submit the landowners consent to cancel the "ticket".

I had the same issue and it was cancelled via hotel reception when I called to tell them.

I don't think you have anything to worry about

Just get a e-mail from the hotel confirming the parking was registered and there statement to PE regarding the cancelation.
