Hi all.

I was watching Motorway Cops last night. For those that don't know, one of the stops by the CMPG guys was for a trucker who they'd spotted using his phone.(he said he was looking at pics of his daughter who he rarely saw since his divorce and claimed he was not making a call)

They were going to give him points, but then it transpired that he already had 9 points, 6 for perverting the course of justice, when his daughter had borrowed his car without his permission and had lied to Police and tried to cover up events, and 3 points for speeding.

The guy had only recently gone back to work after being signed off with depression and I think he'd also lost his house at the same time as his divorce. Both officers appeared to have experienced similar situations and decided not to give him points, I think he got a warning and was told by both officers that if he committed the offense again he would be taken to court and recommended for the maximum ban.

I was quite surprised that he got let off. like that. Just wondering what others think, particularly if they saw the episode.

You can't get points for perverting the course of justice. Sounds like he just chose not to reply to the NIP naming her, which is a very different (and far less serious) thing.

Yes, you're right.I think it was the trucker that thought he'd perverted the course of justice.
