Comes via post. Usually only 3 or 4 days now.

Normally If you've only got the green slip (V5C2), you'll have to apply by post, sending the green slip with a completed V62.

However, the green slip V5C2 has a 12 digit reference number on it.

If you remove the first of these 12 digits, it gives the same 11 digit reference number on the V5C that you need to apply for a new one.... whistle

This will work if you have the latest printed V5C2.

I think you mean 3-4 weeks, as it always has been for me.

The one that turned up at my place on Friday took three weeks.

When you say "get a V5 online" do you mean printing one out, because if so the answer's no.

If you mean applying for change of registered keeper online then yes you can do that but you need the full V5 for the reference number, or you can try the trick of taking the first digit off the one on the green slip but it's not 100%

The problem is the seller is supposed to do it, so you have to lie and say you're the seller, which I guess could come back to bite you if someone really wants to make an issue of it.

^^This^^

The work around will only be successful if, for whatever reason, DVLA has yet to update its records. If the new V5C has been posted to the OP and subsequently lost by RM or delivered to the wrong address, the 11 digit reference number derived from the V5C/2 will be invalid and the online system will reject it.
