Does anybody know if the water companies can just turn up unannounced & change your water meter & not tell you? My water company rocked up today whilst we were out & fitted a new water meter in place of the old one, it looks like a digital jobbie that can be read from the van with no need to look in the hole in the pavement. Always had a water meter & that works for me, thats not really the issue. However......

Got home and my water pressure is st, the showers won't run as the pressure is too low up stairs as they are fed off the rising main. Either they have cocked it up outside or contaminated the pipe on the feed side and not having left a flush notice or told me what they were planning, when we put the showers on it has blocked the filters. The shower power packs are in the loft so not easy to check but the pressure on the kitchen sink is much less too even with the stock cock open full bore (it was 1/2 open before to stop you getting smacked at the kitchen sink!) so I hope the issue is outside.

Have an emergency call in for them to sort it but they say midnight before the engineer will be here.

Can't answer your question but have you tried turning the tap in by the meter to see if that is the problem?

I had mine replaced recently also with some new whizzy one.

It's possible that your water meter replacement man hasn't turned the stopcock that lives with the meter back up to full when he replaced the meter (as it would have been turned off to replace the meter)

Hope it gets sorted

That's my thinking too. OP have you had a look at the tap in the ground with the meter?

Plumber is here now. Basically, the installer did not clean/flush the main feed properly so everything with a filter is blocked up with blue plastic pipe burrs where they cut the pipe to fit the new meter!
