But the scamera vans are a bigger problem-How can they be taken out without getting caught, and, hurting the person inside.
Get a few mates with placards and walk around in front of the windows waving them around. Obviously we all know what would be on the placards......
I was doing some experimentation with thermite to see wether that would do a good job. I was terribly dissapointed in the quantity that would seem to be required - some more experimentation required methinks
N.B. Not that I did this on a real camera - and it was done by someone qualified with explosives

One elegant one that I've thought of but haven't seen put into practice yet - drill a hole in the casing and leave a can of builders' foam emptying into the gatso. Everything in the box is shagged - technique used by burglars to kill burglar alarm boxes outside houses. Anyone know of it being tried?
There is an easier way my friends, if u look next time you pass a GATSO there is a small metal post about 2ft tall within 15ft of the camera imbedded in the pavement etc. This houses the main circuit breaker for the cameras power supply, the front cover of this post is held on by a triangular panel screw and then flips forward. Switch off the breaker ( same as a house fuse box one) and the camera has 4 hours of battery backup before it shuts down. This will not be discovered until matey comes along to remove the film lol. I suppose u could even then fill the box with expanding foam which would leave it permenantly switched off.

Excellent
What offence, if any would this be? Criminal damage possibly?

Tactically, I'd say that means going after the vans when they are at whatever depot they return to at night. The problem is I have no idea how secure this installation would be - it it is the local nick then considerably.
Some vans seem regularly park illegally in the same places. Caltrops perhaps?
Working with limited information as I dont see too many vans in these parts. I believe there is at least one but I have never seen it. I have however seen vans in sneaky places but they were going after the other side of the road. They were on bridges so you wouldnt have been able to see them from the other carriageway until it was too late, and only in your mirror (The roadworks in Newbury) God willing I should make it to a full licence this year as i'm currently running the gauntlet with 3 points on a 6 point licence.
