Hi All,

I received a PCN a couple of nights ago. I'm on standby and was called out to a fault, parked up at the entrance to our building (shown in the photo) right up against the large roller door for about 30 mins at 21:45.

Pedestrians would have had to move round the back of my car, but given it was 21:45 and I was under a bit of pressure to investigate the fault I left my car outside (It would've taken an extra 3 mins to get the door open and my car inside, I know!)

PCN says : Parked with one or more wheels on or over a footpath or any part of a road other than a carriageway.

Quite prepared to pay if I'm in the wrong, but this is the entrance to our premises and the curb clearly ends both sides of our small bit of tarmac leading up to the entrance.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Depends who owns the land you were parked on. If council then they have issued correctly. I would imagine half of the entrance to the building is council and half is private.

This is a complete guess and you would need to check the deeds but I would imaging it is something like this.

With the road side of the red line being council and other side in line with bollard private.

We cant really start to comment without knowing whether the ticket was issued by the Council or by a parking company

This will be council. Wharf Road, London is a public highway funded by council.

Except the entrance to the building is quite possibly private land and could be enforced by a PPC

I agree the wording sound like council

HantsRat's red line is very likely accurate. Was your car totally within that line?

When you say "round the back of your car", were you parallel with the road and door, or at an angle/perpendicular to it?

Were all the spaces the other side of the road, and up and down the road, full? Streetview's not terribly clear on the sign, but it looks like they weren't in restriction hours at that time, either.

Surely there are two offences there. One is parking on a footpath in London other than a marked parking bay, and the other is parking on a double yellow line since the restriction also applies to the path behind the lines.

Thanks for all responses so far.

PCN issued by Islington Council, and yes I was perpedicular to the door, so the rear half of my car was beyond the red line.

It's sounding more so like I was in the wrong, in which case - fair cop, and I won't do it again.

Don't think that matters.

Surely the yellows should bend round with the kerb, and that is most certainly not a footpath, its a road/entrance.

That's the logic I used when I parked there the other night...

If, as seems certain, your rear wheels were on the pavement area you're stuffed.
There has been a global prohibition in all London Boroughs for over 40 years.

Unless a Diagram 667 sign is present.

Btw the Borough boundary runs down the middle of Wharf Road.
The other side (with the parking places) is LB Hackney.

The restriction times are 8.30am to 6.30pm Monday - Friday
