Can Traffic Police send NIP via Post?
Discussion
Hello,
A mate of mine was going along a dual carriageway (2 lanes either side) when an unmarked police car behind him put their blue lights on, at which point he moved into the left lane and made sure that he was under the speed limit. The police car then switched their lights off, overtook him slowly, front passenger officer told my mate to slow down using hand movements, and then carried on.
My mate said that the road he was on was such that it was hard to stop on (he thinks there was a solid white line on the side of the road).
Is it possible that the police have sent a NIP via post rather than to pull him over?

Possible - YesA mate of mine was going along a dual carriageway (2 lanes either side) when an unmarked police car behind him put their blue lights on, at which point he moved into the left lane and made sure that he was under the speed limit. Likely in the circumstances - No
I guess even though perhaps he was lanehogging (able to move left immediately, but not certain from description) he probably impressed by having the awareness of the blue lights and did the right thing: didn't jump on brakes, moved left and slowed down a bit.
I've had this a couple of times and heard nothing else.
