So on my route to work I go through a village that has a 30 limit. At the end of this it turns to a 40 for about 100m, before turning into an NSL as it ends up on a slip road onto the A31.
I've noticed before that there has a been a policeman sat in the 40 zone, pointing down the road into the 30 and so I'm always careful down there, plus there's a school in the 30 zone anyway.
Today, as I turn onto this road, I see right in the distance a yellow dot so of course I'm extra careful to stick to 30, accelerating up to 40 from the sign onwards. He waves at me frantically to slow down so I stop, wind the window down, and he tells me to slow down as I was going too fast.....
This wound me up and I said that I was in fact sticking to the speed limit the whole way down, to which he replied "No you weren't, I've got you going faster than that before the 40 sign. I'm not going to give you a ticket but slow down!"
My response was simply "ok" and I drove off.
How do they get away with straight up lying about people's speed? Seriously? My speedo is not more than 1mph out at that speed so it's complete rubbish.
Sorry for the rant and lack of expletives, I'm paying for this "police" service and they're doing this!
To make matters worse, in that 40 zone there's a track that leads to a couple of houses before it then hits a 1 way(!) NSL sliproad....it's a complete waste of resources.
Blah!

I've had similar, it may sound stupid, but some cars do look 'faster' even when just crawling along.
I had a jumped up private parking officer/parking supervisor/jobsworth ask me to slow down when I was in an underground car park in Portsmouth.
I was doing less than 5mph, but I was in my Mustang at the time and I suppose he thought I was gunning it, but I really wasn't going at any speed other than tick-over.

i got moaned at by a plod for speeding whilst doing 25 in a 30 purley based on a loud exhast /facepalm I had a jumped up private parking officer/parking supervisor/jobsworth ask me to slow down when I was in an underground car park in Portsmouth.

On the way to my wifes work in Bath, going down Landsdown past the school, there is a school crossing guy who waves his arms frantically at anything that is not a "normal" car.
After being waved at once I stopped and asked him why he was waving. "All your sort speed" said he, he had no idea but just the type of car was enough, oh yes the car, and MR2.
Sometime the assumption is you own a fast car you must be speeding. The worst are the camera vigilantes who get hard on when they hear my Westfield, but it leaves them when they see the limit being adhered to.

Perhaps he should be having a word about all the s*** parking around there when the 4x4 crowd turn up on the school run. Is that the crossing where they have or claim to have CCTV ?
In our main street (just before we turn off to our actual street) it's a 30 limit generally obeyed by most eg say up to a reasonable 35mph. Never ever been any accidents speed related or otherwise certainly no fatalities. Came home one night to see a single policeman + 8-10 of the grey haired brigade monitoring speeds and jotting down number plates! Went back to discuss with the policeman and they were apparently flagging "speeders" and sending them letters to slow down!

I do have a Z4, but it's old and not very loud I had a jumped up private parking officer/parking supervisor/jobsworth ask me to slow down when I was in an underground car park in Portsmouth.

.It was the fact he had a radar gun that annoyed me as at no point had I exceeded any speed limit between my turning onto the road and getting to him so he couldn't have caught me, yet still asked me to slow down.
I'm tempted next time to do the whole road at 20 and see what they say!
I had a similarly thing happen when I was about 18. I was pulling away from some traffic lights along Southend seafront in what was then a 30 limit. No sooner had I pulled away than a copper practically jumped in front of me, palm outstretched gesturing me into a lay-by.
'How fast do you think you were going, son?'
I was doing 20, as three of my friends who were also in the car at the time attested to. At this the PC mumbled some rubbish about watching my speed and promptly sent me on my way. We couldn't believe it! Without trying to exaggerate my innocence, it was a genuine normal pull away getting up to speed in a sensible manner (due to the fact that this officer was plain to see when sat at traffic lights for 60 seconds).
I think my only crime was do be driving a C2 VTS (spicy) and having four teenage lads on board.
This kind of behaviour only acts to undermine respect in the police force.

I had a Royal Parks motorcycle cop pull me over on my Vespa and tell me that I had been doing 50mph over a 325 yard stretch of the Regents Park Outer Circle, after pulling out of a junction. As my scooter had only 5.5 bhp I knew he was lying, and he knew he was lying too. I told him that he was the only one who had been doing 50mph, offered him the key and told him that if he could make the thing do 50 over that distance I'd take the points gladly.
He buggered off with some warning about watching me in future. I pretty much lost all respect for the police that day.

My missus got pulled over last week, I was with her. She overtook a van and car doing 40 in an NSL on a bit of the A37 where there is visibility for the best part of 2 miles. She did creep slightly over the NSL (maybe nudging 70 for a second) before pulling in and easing it back down to 60. We notice the copper who was a few cars back also overtake and come up behind us. He followed for a few miles (driving quite aggressively to be honest, tailgating then dropping back then accelerating right up close again), but as normal my missus stuck to the speed limits perfectly. Eventually he flashes and puts the blues on so she pulls over.
Policeman walks over and says he stopped her because of her speed during the overtake (which he had no way of knowing from what I can tell), then he said "I had to really put the gas on to catch up with you". I did hold my tongue but I very nearly explained to him that a fully loaded diesel astra estate was probably going to need some pushing to catch up to an A200 (not the quickest car I know) and perhaps he should focus on catching people on their phones. But I didn't want any extra hassle so I sat quietly

I met him last summer.
He wasn't happy with my overtake of a <40 bimbler in a NSL and claimed I had crossed a solid line when pulling back in.
We had a polite exchange where I suggested he was mistaken in his assertion.
I knew that from where he was positioned (some way behind the car I overtook) there was no way he could see what he claimed to have done.
What could have been a potential FPN and points (if he had been an a**ewipe) ended up as a nice chat about performance: of the car rather than me.

When I disagreed with a cop in Liverpool I was asked if I wanted to be dragged out of the car and "dealt with severly". That, and several other similar interactions with Police as a young lad, still colour my opinion of them today.'How fast do you think you were going, son?'

I was quite surprised that our village taxi driver, who is also a church warden, spoke in a similar vein about the way the Police treat him and his colleagues.
Many people's only interaction with the Police will be through motoring issues - you'd think Police Officers would be more mindful of the impression they leave people with.

Blah!
