I'm sure it's been done to death but seems like so much info out that some of which I'm not sure what to believe.

Parked in a train car park run by Indigo.

Coin machine didn't accept coins, card payment had an error and didn't accept payment. Took picture of machine and telephone numbers and left note in window saying machine broken.

On train 5 mins later called the number to pay over the phone and the system was down. Tried 3 more times still down. Came back to a ticket.

Wrote to them explain and they have just ignored and said failure to display a valid ticket.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a template or something to write back with ? lots of things on Piepoooo saying letter before action and all sorts - dont know where to start!

Many thanks in advance!

If you can evidence that the coin slot and card reader was broken and the calls you made, appeal and present this and I'm sure you'll be fine. You would need to evidence this though as any tom dick & harry could just say the machine was broke. Why should they believe you?

I once received a ticket at a hospital as the machine did not take any coins and no option to pay by phone/card. I simply videoed it not accepting coins and showed them this. It was dropped.

Tickets at railway stations are issued under Railway Byelaw 14. Very different process to regular private parking tickets, and Indigo/ZZPS/Wright Hassall can not enforce any civil action against you, it has to go through a Magistrate court, and therefore any claim has to brought within 6 months of the ticket being issued.

Indigo don't like to play ball with me and my fleet, so I have a series of basic letters that ask one question at a time, and drag it along until it times out. I'm happy to work with them, but if they get obstinate with me, I just like to waste their time.

Have a read of this - http://www.parkingcowboys.co.uk/byelaws/ and as you are a private individual, this will also apply - http://www.parkingcowboys.co.uk/2017-01-railway-by...

I think the data protection aspect will not apply here. The poster suggests he responded to original ticket left on the car so parking company would not have make a DVLA request.

I would do that, as long as you have proof. Send them phone records too.
