Helping a mechy mate out with towing.
Discussion
What ho chaps.
IF you have a mechy mate who is a one man band (sole trader), and he needs to tow a vehicle on a rigid bar, if you were the chap in the vehicle being towed (so in effect you are just steering), do you personally need to hold insurance that would cover you to drive that vehicle ?

Yes.
The vehicle being towed is still a vehicle so that vehicle and the occupant within it need to comply with all typical legislation. Insured, MOT'd etc.
It's worth mentioning as well than even on a rigid style bar, some police will take a dim view if they see you towing it anywhere other than to a safe place to be recovered.
