Hi All,

My parents house was broken into and ransacked last week while they were on holiday. The thieves got away with quite a bit of stuff including some silverware, electrical goods and mum's car but also took my grandfathers medals, some distinctive ornaments and some jewelry. These items wouldn't be worth anything really, but are of great sentimental value. I realise the reality is that these have probably gone for good, but I'd like to at least attempt to have a look for them. Any ideas what the normal disposal routes used by the thieves for stolen goods, particularly the medals would be? I've checked the obvious places like ebay and gumtree with no luck. Would they be likely to end up with a medal dealer, in a car boot sale, or somewhere like cash converters? Once I've got a few ideas I'll go for a drive round a few places with some photographs of the items just on the off chance.

When I was broken into I went on Facebook local, Gumtree, Ebay, local shops that sell used goods.

As a result I saw two watches for sale in a Pawn Shop in Bristol and the police got the culprits as a result. We did not recover everything or the value but at least we got them a record.

The medals look at specialist shops or sales sites.

I know it is probably too late but look at security going foreward.

Try an app called 'Shpock' as well, becoming very popular in these parts.
