hypothetically speaking..........

you drive a company pool vehicle, or a hire car organised through the company and aquire a parking or speeding ticket or some other fine.

The company then adopts the policy that they will pay the fine as it comes in and deduct it from your salary of the person that was driving.

how does that sound?

The company has to name the driver as per the S172 - they don't receive the option to pay the fine.

If they don't name the driver, the Company Secretary (normally) will receive the punishment for failure to comply with S172.

What's to stop the company employing a company secretary who doesn't drive and has no licence & then keeping schtum??

The phrase includes "away" and "scot free"...

i don't believe that the company has any right to deduct money from wages directly without your consent, other than the goverment's 'skim' off the top, of course, unless there is a county court judgement or similar.

happy to be corrected, but i think this is the case.
