Anybody else noticed them ??

Down the A303 mainly, EVERY single straight section of road now has one or two additional mini gravelled laybys, strangley positioned just over small crests, at the bottom of hills, or behind signposts at the end of long straights.

Now is this me being cynical??

A: Why ?
B: What purpose ?
C: Who paid for them ?
D: What was that cash allocated as? (road safety?)
E: Why have they positioned them on such open stretches of road?

I have already spotted the local £amer£hip making use of them, sureley they'd have no safety reason to put them on such open pieces of safe road.

The sneakiest one is on the big downhill stretch heading west just before the Wylie juntion. As you descend the hill take a look on the other side of the dual carriageway at where one is positioned, looking back up the hill.

£££££££££

While theyre only interested in the above, safety will never be an issue of importance to them.
Its all about the revenue and it always was.

Take a look at Lincolnshire, lots of such little laybys where they park the camera. The gatso lines are a giveaway as to the purpose, again a significant number, though not all to be honest, are in what otherwise be considered open road.

Delta F old bean. Any chance of editing your £££££?

If radar, laser etc detectors do get banned, you can expect more mobile revenue collection at these locations. (Assuming the cynical view is, as usual, correct.)

....so the GPS systems will have to have all these layby locations programmed in, just in case there's Streetcop sitting there waiting for us.

Now clearly these straight stretches are the safest places to overtake. Will scamera vans waive speeding fines for those overtaking safely but above the limit? I know what my guess is.

Therefore it will force people to overtake in less safe places, or be stuck behind the 40mph brigade for hours. Ergo, accidents will go up in the less safe places and perhaps slightly down on the straights. This will prove once more that "accidents at camera sites are down 99.9% and up 10% at non-camera sites. Therefore we need more cameras."

Much the same sort of thing seems to have been put in on the "roadworks" section of the M42.

If the doggers get there first the scamera operators will be filming more than motorists

You mean all those places where your view would be obstructed?

That's going to be really helpful when someone uses one to let little Jonny have a pee and pulls back out again

You know all those glass bottles you've been saving for recycling, and the spare bags of nails and tacks you ordered from Screwfux Direct ... well how about spreading some across these laybys

Any farmers on here? How about a few choice piles of manure in the field next to the laybys? Or even on the laybys
