Undeclared mod and got reversed in to.
Discussion
So long story short i got reversed in to the by another driver. We both exchanged details and found out to be with the same insurance company. He didn't admit fault when speaking to the insurance company so i sent them an eyewitness account and CCTV footage of him reversing in to me. The insurance company told me to take the car in to the body shop and get it fixed until they sort out who is liable. My problem is i changed the grill on my car a few days before and forgot to tell the insurance company. I was meaning to phone them up this week but then this happened. So what should i do? Should i just give in the car to the body shop and let them fix it hoping they don't notice the grill or should i put the stock grill back on since it doesn't go to the body shop until next week?
Old one back on. While in my young Barry days (3 years ago), I was read ended in my [not so] Grande Punto. Crap sports exhaust, subtle spoiler, tinted windows, debadged, alloys etc. I hadn't declared any of it foolishly. Basically didn't make a difference at all. Still repaired, no mention of mods.
They did however notice my exceeded milage and happily sent me a bill for it.

I doubt the workshop will notice a different grille. How will they prove you fitted it?They did however notice my exceeded milage and happily sent me a bill for it.
Also, as for mileage - I do hope you didn't pay the bill? After all, you often lend your mates your car when they need to go to scotland/cornwall to visit their other half once a month or so? They're covered under their insurance for that, not yours...

What would happen if they did find out i changed the grill? Like for example the third party sent in pictures of the car when the accident happened
In my opinion the worst that could happen is that your insurance company could ask you to pay them the difference in premium between standard and modified.herewego said:

I never thought of that. Unfortunately I coughed up the 85 ponds. Thanks for the good advice, I wish I had known this at the time. Also, as for mileage - I do hope you didn't pay the bill? Your insurer could have grounds for not paying out but that would be extemely petty of them however, some would say that they only need the tiniest of excuses not to pay out...
Petty indeed, it's not as if the grill made the car dangerous. I would hope they don't worry about it. The only thing that might make it relevant is whether the grill was damaged in the accident and if so does it cost more to replace than the original?
